was das jahr 2016 bislang an erwähnenswerter musik hervorgebracht hat, ist leider (noch) als überschaubar zu bezeichnen. also sei ein blick zurück gestattet: im letzten jahr gründeten johnny zambetti und ben rothbard die noch immer recht unbekannte band the palms, deren gleichnamige debüt-ep mehr aufmerksamkeit verdient hätte. in ein bestimmtes genre lässt sich die band schwerlich einsortieren, was offensichtlich gewollt ist. auf ihrer homepage steht folgendes geschrieben:

„the palms have effortlessly combined their love of all popular music to create a fresh, uplifting sound, resulting in the perfect soundtrack to a summer night in los angeles. the need to make music without barriers or inhibitions is what initially inspired johnny zambetti and ben rothbard to explore artistic ideas outside of their band terraplane sun. before they knew it, the duo had 5 songs that they felt were worthy of sharing with the world and the palms were born.“
